I’m Caroline Mascaro, founder and designer of Birka Studios, a Cleveland-based interior design studio working locally and nationwide.

Birka is an Old Norse term for marketplace — a place where objects, ideas, and people come together. That idea continues to shape the studio: an evolving collection of interiors, vintage objects, original work, and things worth living with.

My approach is informed by Scandinavian and midcentury design, with an emphasis on proportion, natural materials, vintage and contemporary pieces, and original art. Rather than designing toward a singular look, I’m interested in the tension between old and new — and in creating spaces that feel collected, personal, and lived in.

Across interiors and objects, the point of view remains the same: thoughtful, restrained, and made to evolve over time.
